Achievable Waist Reduction
The Waist Reduction rating is the maximum waist reduction achievable of the corset. Just because a corset is rated to a 4 or 5" waist reduction doesn't mean you have to wear them that tightly, you have the choice between comfort & control.
Not interested in Waist Reduction? This rating will give you an idea of the weight of the corsets in our collections, from lingerie to expert level corsetry, as well as the support they offer.
Disguise Rating Explained
The Disguise Rating is how invisible a corset is underneath clothing, relative to the other designs available in our collections.
All Corsets & foundation garments will be difficult to completely disguise underneath bodycon and very tight fitting sheer garments. Dresses with scooped backs can also be problematic when pairing with overbust designs.
Comfort Rating Explained
The Comfort Rating is how comfortable your corset will be. Some fabrics are less suited to longer periods of wear and more theatrical designs can become heavy if wearing all day.
Naturally you will find that your corset will be less comfortable the tighter you lace it, corsetry is about finding the balance between comfort & control that best suits you.
Women's lingerie as outerwear has been a regular seasonal style on the catwalks for the past seven years now. It has become a wardrobe staple that transcends trends. The underwear-as-outerwear trend involves wearing bralettes, lingerie tops, corsets and stylish underwear publicly. It can be seen everywhere from couture to the high street and has been embraced by women of all ages.
You may be surprised to hear that ladies exposing their lingerie tops is nothing new. In the 1920s and 1930s, Coco Chanel popularised wearing silky pyjamas for home entertainment before they were succeeded by hostess gowns in the '40s and '50s - the precursor to today's loungewear. In the 1970s, Vivienne Westwood revisited Victorian corsetry while Jean-Paul Gaultier and Thierry Mugler used corsets to create cyber women. This new generation of designers reinvented the corset - they were no longer a symbol of female oppression, but sexual empowerment. And when Gaultier designed the stage outfits for Madonnas 1990 Blonde Ambition world tour. He dressed her in pinstripe suits with pink satin conical bras. It was a move that turned traditional ideas of masculinity and femininity on their heads. And made Madonna and women's lingerie a universal symbol of feminism.
This trend is perfect for every type of silhouette; you just need to have the confidence to wear it. Wearing lingerie as outerwear is all about looking powerfully feminine. There is a fine line between looking sexy and smutty, so your outfit must have layers. It's about simultaneously concealing and revealing just enough. Choose your lingerie top then have fun with fabrics. Lace and denim make an effortlessly fresh and sexy daytime look, while velvet and satin are a sultry nighttime combination.
When choosing women's lingerie, it's worth investing in pieces that will stand the test of time. Corsets are a great place to start. They are a timeless piece of lingerie that you can wear as underwear or as outerwear. They are multifunctional pieces that look effortlessly stylish while creating a sexy hourglass silhouette. Corsets can instantly take inches off your waist while smoothing down any lumps and bumps - leaving you feeling empowered!
